DETAILS, DETAILS....
The Early Bird DOESN'T always get the worm!
Investigate for your FUTURE!!
We’d love to help you firm up your interview skills. Let us know if you’ve faced an interview question that you just hate hearing or you're uncomfortable with answering and we will do our best to help you figure out an answer to it.
Being prepared and confident are the best way win the job. Think of it like having arrows ready in your quiver to take along so that you can shoot down any questions that may come up!
- Know where you’re going and how long it takes to get there! Try a drive by if possible, same time of day as your interview, unless you really…really know the area.
- Don’t be afraid to ask if there are special directions for parking. Is it street or lot parking and are there paid meters? Surprise parking meters with no change in your pocket or hoping your car doesn’t get towed while you’re interviewing doesn’t make for the best vibe during your time to shine!
The Early Bird DOESN'T always get the worm!
- You should arrive early but don't actually go in no more than 10 - 15 minutes early. It’s really not impressive when someone shows up 1/2 hour early. Think about it, this Employer set a specific time aside for you. They're likely on a tight schedule and now, they know your there...and you're very early. Making someone who may or may not give you a job, irritated before they even get to meet you, is NEVER a good idea. And now they feel rushed and it can seem as though you don’t have good time management skills and can even cause them to feel like you have a lack of respect for their time. Remember, you're hoping to impress them!
Investigate for your FUTURE!!
- Find out everything you can about this company. See if you can learn anything about who you’re interviewing with if possible, and what makes them tick. It is VERY impressive that someone has done their homework.
- Looking at the Values, Mission and Vision statements along with the history of the company will help make you more comfy at your interview.
- Get to know the product or services they provide. You may find that you’ve got more relevant experience than you even knew....Bonus!
- After doing your research, you should have at least a few questions written down to ask them. So while you’re learning about the company, it will come in handy to get yourself a question or two that doesn’t typically come up. “I see that your team does a lot of volunteer work in the community, can you tell me a little bit more about your outreach programs?” OR, “I loved the pictures on social media of your Team building events, is that a normal part of the culture here? This can help when you get to that awkward end part of the interview where they ask "so, do you have any other questions" but they’ve literally answered them all and you now have nothing to say. Happens to everyone.....
